Foreign policy in the US today

When it comes to the foreign policy of the US, we will not quote Donald Trump’s statements. It is better that way. Anyway, the main tendance of US foreign policy is to prevent the formation of Euroasia, or the alliance or strategic cooperation between Europe and Russia and China, which will challenge the primacy of US in the world, according to French expert on geopolitical issues Jean Bernard Pinnata. That is the source of all tensions between Washington and Moscow, whose officials cordially shake hands for the cameras while measuring strength on the ground. Many officials from various countries stated that the world is all about the US and Russian relationship, all since WWII, and that cold war never ended. On the other hand, according to estimates by Russian analysts, the foreign policy of the US will be focused on Syria, Russia, China and further expansion of transatlantic trade agreements with the countries of Europe and Asia.

Anyway, the cold war is formally ended, but US and Russia are still in a relationship full of distrust, and the proof for such statements is recent army distribution into East European NATO countries, which led to Russian military exercises and concerns. This French expert also stated that there are three main lobbies in the US foreign policy. The strongest and most dangerous one is military-industrial lobby, then lobby followed by Wall Street and the third is Israeli-American. All those lobbies are in the interest to maintain US primacy in the world acquired by the collapse of the former USSR.

In this presidential campaign, the focus is mainly on domestic policy actions in the field of international relations and security, but foreign policy will also take up a significant part of it. National security is one of the most important issues in the US today. It is because of the threat of international terrorism, especially if there is another terrorist attack in the US or attack to US citizens in some other part of the world.

The most important subject of American foreign policy in the Asian-Pacific region in 2016 will remain the project Trans-Pacific Partnership. The US will continue to promote the TTP in the extended sense-not only as a free trade zone. One of the key foreign policy challenges for Washington in 2016. will be the inclusion of the Republic of Korea ( ROK) in TTP. After Japan joined the TPP, the accession of Kazakhstan to this agreement would represent a serious challenge to China’s initiative of establishing a free trade zone between China, Japan and Republic of Korea.

Cooperation with Russia is one of the most controversial areas of US foreign policy. On the one hand, Washington will not abandon harsh rhetoric against Moscow’s actions and attitudes, or periodic tactical attacks in the whole range of pressing issues on the agenda of Russian -American dialogue. It is also possible that Washington will impose sanctions and other measures to supplement the existing ones. On the other hand, the US administration will gradually reduce the level of tension in relations with Russia and begin informal cooperation in various fields, to develop a compromise on secondary issues.
