Obama Turns His Guns

The Obama administration continues to purge those whose acts of commission or omission were designed to set the ground for the president to be confronted with a U.S. diplomatic compound hostage situation in Benghazi, Libya, evoking memories in the electorate of the U.S. hostages in Tehran during the Jimmy Carter administration. The Iran hostage situation largely cost Carter re-election. GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney reportedly stated he wanted a “Jimmy Carter Strategy” to unfold in the weeks before the election to negatively impact Obama’s chances for re-election.

A number of senior flag rank generals and admirals, as well as senior lower rank officers, have been fired as a result of their actions that resulted in four American Foreign Service personnel being killed by insurgents in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. David Petraeus, the CIA director at the time of the attack, was fired by Obama, with the recommendation of Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, as reported by WMR on December 19, over e-mails surfacing that indicated he was having an extramarital affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell. It was also reported by The Washington Post that Petraeus’s brain trust in Afghanistan included two arch-neo-conservatives, the husband and wife team of Frederick and Kimberly Kagan. Frederick Kagan and his brother Robert Kagan were signatories to the Project for the New American Century (PNAC), the blueprint for U.S. invasions and occupations of Iraq, Afghanistan, and other Arab and Muslim countries. Robert Kagan is married to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s spokeswoman, Victoria Nuland.

The presence of anti-Obama neocons inside the State Department and the CIA director’s office is resulting in a continued purging of neocons and disloyal military officers from the ranks. The trial balloon floated on former Republican senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska being considered as the replacement for Panetta at the Pentagon has thrown the neo-con cabal of Washington into a frenzy. The editorial board and Op-Ed pool of The Washington Post, dominated by neo-con Zionists like Anne Applebaum and Ruth Marcus, have condemned the choice of Hagel for Secretary of Defense. The reason outlined by the Post is that Hagel, a Republican from a “red state,” is too left-wing fringe. Hagel stand accused of opposing sanctions on Iran and, of course, the worst sin, not being supportive enough of Israel. It sounds like the Post is advancing nutty conspiracy theories these days.

The rumors that Senator John Kerry will go to State and Hagel will take over the Pentagon are clear signs that Obama may be getting tough with those who have acted as Brutuses in The Forum and have been plotting against him. Mrs. Clinton’s sudden fainting spell and concussion just prior to her congressional testimony on Benghazi brings up memories of CIA director William Casey developing a sudden brain tumor and going into a coma just before his testimony on the Iran-contra scandal. Casey’s near death condition did not stop The Washington Post’s much-ballyhooed Bob Woodward, also a member of the paper’s editorial board, from being granted a death bed confession just as Casey was wandering off into the “big bright light.”

Some former State Department big-wigs have stood up for Hagel against the barbs from the Post, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), and other Zionist pressure groups. Heartily endorsing Hagel for the top job at the Pentagon are:

Nicholas Burns, former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Ambassador to NATO and Greece

  •     Ryan Crocker, former Ambassador to Iraq and Afghanistan
  •     Edward Djerejian, former Ambassador to Israel and Syria
  •     William Harrop, former Ambassador to Israel
  •     Daniel Kurtzer, former Ambassador to Israel and Egypt
  •     Sam Lewis, former Ambassador to Israel
  •     William H. Luers, former Ambassador to Venezuela and Czechoslovakia
  •     Thomas R. Pickering, former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Ambassador to Israel and Russia
  •     Frank G. Wisner, former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Ambassador to Egypt and India

The former U.S. ambassadors to Israel are very much aware of Israel’s deep penetration of the U.S. military and foreign service by those who conspired with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Romney’s senior policy adviser Dan Senor, and the Kagans’ friends at the American Enterprise Institute, where Frederick Kagan works, and other neo-con think tanks financed by Israel and its intelligence service, Mossad.

It is quite clear that Obama wants Hagel at the Pentagon to continue Panetta’s policy of purging disloyal officers and civilians from the ranks and employment rolls. Hagel, a Vietnam veteran who was one of only a handful of Republican senators who endorsed John McCain against George W. Bush in 2000 should not face any public opposition from McCain, Lindsey Graham, and other top GOP pro-defense senators. McCain has already criticized the movie “Zero Dark Thirty,” which deals with the killing of Osama bin Laden. The Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence Michael Vickers, who is reportedly on Panetta’s purge list, is under investigation for leaking sensitive and classified information about Navy Seal Team Six’s Operation NEPTUNE SPEAR, the operation that allegedly killed bin Laden. The Senate has already killed Vickers desire for the Pentagon to have its own team of clandestine intelligence agents abroad, reportedly with Panetta’s approval.

Pickering, who signed the letter with other State Department officials in support of Hagel at Defense, was the co-chair, along with former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mike Mullen, of the independent Accountability Review Board that investigated the Benghazi attack and the murder of U.S. ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other State personnel, including two CIA operatives operating under State diplomatic cover. Mullen is known to have had his own problems with Petraeus and the neo-cons, having had to, on multiple occasions, warn Israel about unilateral operations against Iran that could put U.S. troops in the Middle East region in jeopardy.

The Pickering-Mullen panel came down hard on State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security. Four State officials resigned. They were Eric Boswell, the Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security; Boswell’s deputy Charlene Lamb; Raymond Maxwell, the deputy Assistant Secretary of State responsible for the Maghreb in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. The panel’s report cited “systemic failures” and “management deficiencies” within the State Department chain-of-command responsible for security in Benghazi. The fourth unnamed individual sacked worked within the Bureau of Diplomatic Security.

The Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) of the Bureau of Diplomatic Security has never been known for a high degree of professionalism and firing people there for not measuring up is a bit like shooting fish in a barrel. After a number of high-profile attacks on U.S. embassies in the 1980s, the DSS began hiring more personnel and many came from state police agencies, particularly the Connecticut State Police, and municipal police forces. According to Diplomatic Security Bureau officials at the time of the DSS police recruitment, the ex-cops’ knowledge of foreign affairs and diplomacy left much to be desired. In fact, one of the police hirings in 1987 was Lamb, who previously worked as a police officer in Orange, California where she worked in vice and narcotics. According to State Department sources, Lamb was not competent and, therefore, the perfect candidate to take the fall for Benghazi.

In the interest of full disclosure, this editor once worked in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security and there was little doubt that the bureau of rife with incompetent employees and officials. Often, requests for security improvements at embassies abroad were blocked by the equally-bureaucratic and incompetent Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO). Over the years, a number of foreign nationals and their spouses obtained jobs at OBO and began to engage in corrupt procurement activities with their relatives in countries where they also had responsibility for State Department facilities.

Filipino-Americans were among the most corrupt element at OBO, a situation that also permeates the Defense Department’s commissary and base retail exchange systems. In one case, the U.S. embassy in Algiers was suffering from rampant black outs from Islamist terrorist attacks on power stations in the area. The embassy requested the Information Systems Security division of the Diplomatic Security Bureau to provide it with an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for its computers. OBO denied the embassy’s request, stating that there would have to be a budget request for an emergency generator, likely from a sole source known to the Filipino-OBO American official. This editor by-passed the bureaucratic channels and internal corruption and arranged for the Liebert-Emerson marketing representative in Madrid to fly to Algiers to provide the needed UPS equipment to the embassy. I resigned shortly thereafter, disgusted with the incompetence of the Bureau of Diplomatic Security.

Meanwhile, the spate of high-ranking military officers continues at a rapid clip. After the firing of Petraeus, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) commander General Carter Ham, an investigation of U.S. commander in Afghanistan General John Allen, the early relief from command of U.S. Central Command of General James Mattis, and a number of reliefs for cause of U.S. Navy ship commanding officers, at the end of November the Navy announced the relief of command of Captain Sean McDonell of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 14, a Seabee unit based in Jacksonville, Florida. Often, the Seabees are responsible for construction and repair operations at U.S. diplomatic posts abroad, particularly in high-threat zones like Libya. The Navy’s decision was based on “loss in confidence, mismanagement, and major program deficiencies.”

It seems far more likely that the attacks were engineered by Obama and the Muslim Brotherhood.
